Corey L. Harris
Biographical Sketch

Professional athlete, Entrepreneur, Musician, Mentor, Husband & Father, and Author

Corey L. Harris is the author of S.L.O.W. (Secret Lives of the Wives): The Flip-side of the Coin, a novel chronicling the lives of NFL players and their wives’ private indiscretions.

Corey is the youngest of five children born to Rev. George W. Harris and Ida Mae Harris in Indianapolis, Indiana.  His multifaceted career path has provided him opportunities to connect with and impact youth and adults from various backgrounds.  Whether he was making exceptional plays on the football field, entertaining through his music or teaching youth the value of self-confidence and strong character, Corey has always shown that your true purpose in life is to fulfill dreams and be a blessing to others.  His new book S.L.O.W is expected to bring an entirely different audience into the author’s experiences.

Corey recently retired after a distinguished 12-year tenure in the National Football League.  The highlight of his professional career came as a member of the Baltimore Ravens’ Super Bowl 35 championship team.  He was an integral part of one of the best defenses in NFL history.  Corey played for six NFL teams including the Houston Oilers, Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens and the Detroit Lions. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1992, after an impressive college career at Vanderbilt University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Resources.  There he was touted as one of the most versatile players in college football.

The author’s accolades aren’t limited to football.  In addition to stints as a restauranteur, nightclub owner, and Director of a non-profit youth performing arts center, his most intriguing business venture was his first - the start-up of an independent record label, which supported young up-and-coming hip-hop and R&B artists.  True to form, Corey established himself as one of those up and coming artists in the early 90’s, collaborating on several music projects with multi-platinum producers Carlos “Six-July” Broady, Roger Troutman, and Marc Harris.  Corey performed and honed his skills as a song writer and producer all while active on an NFL roster.  And now with the hush of stadium cheers, he is once again primed to entertain the masses, and is optimistic that they will openly accept and respect his undeniable gift as a writer.

When asked, why this book and why now, Corey explains that he simply had to set the record straight and bring clarity to the common misperceptions of life in and around the NFL.  While the rest of the world was congratulating him on a spectacular year and super bowl title, Corey was going through an emotional and bitter divorce.  It becomes clear that few people have had the athletic, entrepreneurial and personal background of Corey Harris.  Now happily single, this father of a beautiful 18 year-old daughter, has learned invaluable lessons on becoming a better man.

S.L.O.W (Secret Lives of the Wives): The Flip-side of the Coinis a spectacular read that ingeniously details the sensitive aspect of high profile marriages in a way that no one else has done. His experiences allow him to breathe life into the characters and their steamy affairs; images that jump from the pages and take residence in the reader’s imagination.  Entertaining is only one aspect of this racy novel, but the author also hopes to convey an important message that he unfortunately learned the hard way,

“I want every person that reads this book to enjoy it.  But I also want everyone who reads it, and has ever truly loved someone, to realize that this book is a lesson surrounding the work, unconditional love, forgiveness and the relentless desire it takes to make a marriage work.”  CLH
